Education and the arts have a centuries-old tradition in Frankfurt. With its promotion of research and knowledge as well as the fine arts, the city provides a lively and diverse cultural environment. Renowned universities, medical schools, scientific institutes and other educational establishments attract not only students, but also teaching staff with connections across the globe. Strong educational centre.

  • Goethe University Frankfurt with over 46,000 students is one of the most international and research-oriented educational institutions in Germany.
  • Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (UAS) offers scientific as well as practically oriented study programmes with international degrees in economics, information technology, architecture, civil engineering, health, and social studies.
  • The Centre for Logistics, Mobility and Sustainability (ZLMN) at Frankfurt UAS combines application-oriented research and teaching in these areas.
  • The Städelschule (Frankfurt State Academy of Fine Arts) is an international institution, both in terms of its students and its teaching staff.

Science connects.

  • Founded in 1914, the University Hospital Frankfurt runs a total of 32 medical clinics and institutes as well as 25 research institutes. Among other things, it runs a special isolation ward with modern equipment and a medical award-winning Oncology Centre, which plays a leading role in cancer research.
  • A total of 170 scientists, including 30 professors, work in the House of Finance, a Goethe University public-private partnership
  • Research into the chemical, biochemical and physical applications of tomorrow is undertaken at the Riedberg Campus of the Goethe University. Its immediate proximity to the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics and the Frankfurt Innovation Centre for Biotechnology (FIZ) offers outstanding synergies.
  • Honorary “Frankfurt Congress Ambassadors” promote Frankfurt as a conference venue. Numerous scientists support this joint initiative of Congress Frankfurt, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Tourismus + Congress GmbH.

Multicultural Frankfurt.

  • The internationally renowned Städel Museum, the Frankfurt Art Association, the Schirn Kunsthalle art gallery and many other cultural highlights make Frankfurt a centre for traditional and contemporary art. The “Museum Embankment” comprises 13 museums by the river alone and just as many and more in the vicinity.
  • In addition to the Schauspiel Theatre and the Frankfurt Opera House, which won the award for “Opera House of the Year” in 2015 for the second time, Frankfurt also offers other excellent theatres. The English Theatre, for instance, is the largest English-language theatre on the European mainland.
  • The Frankfurt Christmas Market with its fantastic decorations and historic surroundings on the Römerberg and St Paul’s Square is one of Germany’s most important Christmas markets.
